While it is possible to replace a roof in West Palm Beach, FL, there are certain periods throughout the year that it is more advantageous. For Floridians, winter and spring are much better times of the year to do a full roof replacement , in contrast with the rest of the country where winter is the worst time to do so.. In much of America, the summer yields the ideal conditions for homeowners to replace their roof if needed. But down here in West Palm Beach, summers are hot, humid, rainy and bring with it the threat of hurricanes. The primary problems are threefold as to why it's best not to do a replacement in the middle of summer: roofing companies are beyond busy with repairs, it rains almost everyday which ties into the first point, and it's so hot that workers need to take more breaks. So between less time working and rain, many projects do not finish at their projected timetables. With such rain there are many people who need emergency repairs for leaks leaving roofing companies so busy that oftentimes they need to schedule the replacement out for weeks or even months. Then add on the fact that summer and most of fall are hurricane season. Hurricanes as most know can be quite catastrophic. If roofing companies are busy during the summer rainy season, there may not be an adequate term to use for how busy they are in the wake of a hurricane, even a minor one. However, once the rainy hurricane season passes and winter arrives, the South Florida weather becomes much more tolerable. The cooler air allows workers to work on roofs more comfortably. Less rain means less delays. And less rain also means less repair calls, therefore allowing the roofer to pay more attention to any given job. Like mentioned at the top of this post, all seasons are viable in Florida to replace the roof as we don’t experience cold, icy, snow filled winters. It must be stated though, that while it is better to replace a roof in the winter or spring months; if your roof is in poor condition, it is wise to get it repaired or replaced before hurricane season for the safety of yourself and your family.
